Russia’s Novorossiysk Hit by Earthquake
Novorossiysk Mayor Andrey Kravchenko confirmed via Telegram that critical infrastructure remained unscathed following the underground disturbance.
"Information about underground tremors has been received by the Unified Duty Dispatch Service from monitoring centers," Kravchenko stated. "The tremors were recorded approximately 30 kilometers from the city at a depth of over 20 kilometers. There is no damage to infrastructure facilities."
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre recorded the seismic activity at 4.8 magnitude.
Regional emergency response officials reported on Telegram that shaking was perceptible to civilians across Novorossiysk and the neighboring coastal resort of Anapa.
The tremor originated more than 20 kilometers beneath the Earth's surface, positioning it as a moderate-depth earthquake in the region's seismic monitoring records.
