Russia, Ukraine Trade Allegations Over Attacks on Energy Facilities

(MENAFN) On Monday, both Russia and Ukraine accused one another of carrying out overnight aerial assaults aimed at energy infrastructure.

Ukrainian outlets reported that drones successfully struck Russia’s Novocherkasskaya power station in the Rostov region.

They also alleged that Russia targeted an infrastructure site in Ukraine’s Odesa region.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry stated that six Ukrainian drones were intercepted in the Rostov area, though it neither confirmed nor denied whether the power plant sustained damage.

Russian media, however, acknowledged the facility was affected, noting that debris from a downed drone sparked a fire in part of the plant.

Due to the ongoing war, independent verification of these claims remains challenging.
