Russia Says It Captured Two Settlements in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia

(MENAFN) Russia asserted Sunday it seized control of two additional settlements within Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region.

A Russian Defense Ministry statement claimed its military forces captured the settlement of Rivnopillia, positioned approximately 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) north of Huliaipole city, a critical front in the southeastern Ukrainian region.

The statement additionally claimed its forces overtook the village of Mala Tokmachka, situated roughly 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) east of Orikhiv city, another strategic front in Zaporizhzhia.

In a prior statement, Ukraine's General Staff claimed Russian forces launched 12 attacks on its positions along the Huliaipole front, alongside five additional assaults on the Orikhiv front, throughout the preceding day.

Ukrainian authorities have not immediately addressed Moscow's assertions, and independent verification of the claims remains difficult due to the ongoing war.
